RECEIVE BIGGER, SING LOUDER
After the flag ceremony, the officer berated the staff because they were not singing the national anthem as well as the regional and provincial hymn. The officer stressed that “since you are being fed by the government, you should be singing it loud and clear.” One of the staff commented, “Those who are receiving big bonuses should be singing a little bit louder.”

Historic Significance:
The impressive Mount Napulawan is not only known for being a challenging goal for mountaineers and outdoor adventure enthusiasts because it is also rich in history. This peak has served as refuge for both defenders of Philippine soil and invaders from the imperial Japanese army. General Emilio Aguinaldo, who fought to free the Philippines from Spanish and American colonizers, sheltered his troops in the mountain's mossy forest. The hidden valleys of this majestic mountain was also used by General Tomoyuki Yamashita, a Japanese General who was infamous as the "Tiger of Malaya." General Yamashita used the region for the last stand against the Filipino and American forces. Rumors also suggest that the Japanese general buried vast amounts of plundered treasure in the surrounding area.

This well known mountain in Hungduan, Ifugao is also shrouded in a mystique that makes it more enticing for adventurous tourists. The locals believe that the summit of the mountain is enchanted and protected by fairies. These rumors are reinforced by some strange phenomenon experienced by climbers including a disappearing lake near the peak and an optical illusion at a certain viewpoint, which makes trees and other objects appear much larger than their actual size.
The Challenging Hungduan Trail:
This trail is the main path to reach the summit of Mount Napulawan. The journey starts with a 3 hour trek through steep paths and the intense heat of the sun to reach the Ny-o campsite. Then the climb proceeds through the mossy forest with its exotic flora and fauna which includes mosses, ferns, orchids, deer, and wild boars.
